A Message on Calvary's 100th Anniversary Celebration
When a person reaches 100 years old a birthday celebration is usually marked with a cake, 100 candles, singing, pictures, and a recounting of the person’s life in historical landmarks. A life is measured not only in history but also by children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who carry a legacy into the future.
The year 2015 marks the 100th birthday of Calvary Lutheran Church, with all those years spent in the community of Hamilton. For this celebration too, there will be cake, 100 candles, singing, pictures, and a recounting of history.
Because Calvary was formed to be God’s very own vehicle to gather His people together, hundreds of children and adults have been brought to the baptismal font to become God’s very own children. Thousands have come to the table of the Lord to meet Him in His body and blood. Tens of thousands (maybe a million) have walked though Calvary’s doors to hear and believe God’s Word, pray, be encouraged, mourn, laugh, celebrate, cry, to find a friend, to be educated, comforted, serve, to be loved, to be forgiven.
Throughout 2015, we will recount Calvary’s history, propelling our thoughts and actions to the future. We look forward to what God will do with His community of saints at Calvary Lutheran Church and School so she too will have a legacy of faith to pass on to future generations!
